Primary care is often the first port of call for couples who are experiencing fertility problems; however many GPs feel powerless to assist and therefore can underplay the importance of their role in the proceedings. Evidence shows that early referral is key to helping couples achieve higher chance of successful conception, as GPs are usually the first point of contact for couples concerned about their fertility, there is a definite role for GPs in managing their patient’s fertility health against the backdrop of NICE guidelines.
